Now remember, this is taken from a real, actual situation. This is not just some problem we worked up. How we covered it..The diagram below shows how we covered this ceremony. The numbers in red with blue boxes, each represent an item of gear.. 1 - VX2100 6 - wireless handheld on mic stand ![]() Our deployment The vocalist had not been at the rehearsal and arrived so late, that I never had a chance to meet her and tell her we had a mic setup for her. I'll find out soon whether she used the mic I'd setup on a stand (#6). Pillars and the balcony railing prevented us from being able to see her from either of our positions. The next surprise was when the second reader walked up to the other podium (b)! There was no mic there, so we can only hope that the shotgun mic on camera #1 (which also had the receiver for the minister's mic, and a Beachtek), got this. Camera #2 had the groom's receiver. Since we generally keep #1 between close-ups of the bride and medium shots of the couple, #2 is free to go close on the groom, medium; full or wide on the proceedings and is the main camera for getting guests shots, shots of parents wiping tears, etc. Since it gets pointed in different directions, we don't generally bother with a shotgun on this, but use it for extra wireless like fob, readers, singers, etc. In this case, it had the receiver for the podium mic (#9). Since I'd thought the dr (digital recorder) would be on the sound system, I used the hi-8 to get the xlr mic sound from the pipe organ. I'd originally figured I could put it on a tripod and use it for a medium shot (to allow room, since it is unmanned) of the vocalist, (which I could PIP to hide the quality difference) but the length of my xlr cables and layout of other items in the balcony made this impossible.
