OK, now that your logo is looking sharp, it's time to start thinking about getting your content posted and removing all the sample junk.  First, let's see how Joomla organizes content -
Joomla Content Organization
Joomla Content Organization
If you insist, you can work with the concept of web pages, but bear with me for now and try to see things the Joomla Way. Notice that the organization starts with Sections, then Categories and finally Content.  That Content may or may not be a web page.  It could just be a Module. A module is a section of a web page.

Joomla lets you setup navigation by Section and Category, or you can take direct control over your menus and point each menu option to a particular page of content.  That page may or may not share space with other modules - it's all up to you and partially up to your design template.

To simplify control over your home page (which Joomla calls your "front page"), there is a separate menu icon for this and it brings you to a page with only home page content items (er, "front page content..").
Joomla comes with a built-in WSIWYG editor and image handling tools which aren't totally intuitive, but simple enough.

The "tricky" thing is that the editor has two windows.  It's not hard to fail to notice this, so please do pay attention here or you'l go nuts!  The top editing window is for the "introductory" part (teaser).  When published, it will be followed by a "click to continue" link which brings the user to a full page of both the teaser part and the "rest of the story".

By checking a box in the "Parameters" tab, you can elect to not show the introductory text, and thus you would only use the lower edit box.  I've done it every which way - I've put the entire story in the "introductory" part and had none in the lower edit box; I've put it all in the lower box and none in the upper part and I've done content using both edit boxes.  Just be aware that there are two parts and that there is a way to turn one of them off.

Another tricky thing is that to use an image, you first must upload it to the /stories/ folder.  You can do this via an FTP program or the built-in Media Manager or via the Upload icon on your content edit page. Then (you may need to refresh the page before the image is available) you click the "insert image" button that is BELOW the edit box you are using.  This will insert a [mosimage] text tag that will be replaced with your image when the page is published.  Well, it will if you first do a few more things - select the image from the "Gallery Images" list menu to the right of your edit box.  Click the >> button to move the image name to the "Content Images" listbox. Select that image name. Now set your "Align" preference, alt text, caption and caption align.  Then, making sure the image name is still selected and your parameter choices are al set, click the "Apply" button.  You won't see a difference, but it will happen when you "Publish" your article.
Notice that you have options for showing author, creation date, modified date and allowing users to rate your article (not if you're thin-skinned!).

There are add-on packages you can get for forums, virtual stores, classified ads, calendars, the list is endless!  Do dive in and get Joomla'd!  You'll have a well-running, good-looking website and plenty of time for other things - like videography maybe!
