Tomorrow, the FCC will start a month-long test of white-space devices to take advantage of the analog spectrum being vacated by analog television stations. According to Sven Boetcher in his article on broadcastengineering.com, titled, "Wireless Microphones in the Frequency Jungle", wireless microphone systems used by broadcasters and wedding videographers, could get squeezed out. PC Magazine reports that the White Spaces Coalition (Microsoft, Dell, Google, Intel, etc.) want to use the frequencies to deliver broadband Internet access. Broadcasters (and I presume wedding videographers!) strongly oppose the move. TV broadcasters say it will interfere with digital tv signals and have even begun running advertisements against the idea. More info..
