We estimate this to take from six to twelve more months - so you may get up to two years membership for your membership fee ! But first, please read the following: - Certification may apply to a pair or team of videographers at no extra charge, so long as this team all worked on the submitted video and will be working together on each and every single wedding video solicited under this certification. If teams split up and work on different weddings, then they must be certified separately or individually.
- DVD must be of a single, complete wedding video, from the past six months, just the way you delivered it to your client.
- Check whether your submitted video is long (journalistic / documentary) form or short (Romanticized) form.
- Include this client's name and full contact information as "Reference #1".
- Include just two additional references from the past twelve months.
- When you submit your form, you'll be issued a number. Please print this number on your DVD surfaces. No other identifying information is required on the DVDs or cases. All judging will be done in-house by WVDR staff.
- Understand that you are paying for the time of handling, reviewing, critiquing your videos, checking references and for maintaining your records for one year and NOT for certification. There is NO GUARANTEE that you will become certified. If we fail to certify you, you will be eligible to reapply no sooner than thirty days from the date of your first application, for a thirty dollar resubmission fee. If you fail this second time, you must wait another month to reapply, etc.
- We assume no responsibility for your DVDs and they will not be returned.
- If you wish, you may insert your logo bug in a lower corner of the frame, to help protect your copyrights. We will not use any parts of your video for any reason without your express, written consent and the consent of your client. HOWEVER - you may deduct 10% from the certification fee if you include a statement stating you have full rights to the video and that you give WVDR non-exclusive rights to use all or parts of this video for the purpose of training and instruction, without giving any credit or mention of you or your company.
- You will be asked to upload a head/shoulders photo of the individuals requesting certification.
- To be certified for outdoor weddings, you must check the boxes that say you have fur muffs and rain covers.
- Your website, plans and contract must not have misleading information and must be reasonably fair to clients. You may be required to make changes to these before becoming certified.
- We will not disclose any information to any outside parties regarding videos we've judged other than bestowing certification upon those who qualify. In other words, if you fail to qualify, no one will know but you and us.
Great style and effects are nice, but more importance is placed on the basics - good composition, good exposure, focus, audio and, of course, good story-telling. Checkout one of our scoresheets. Again - there is no guarantee you will be certified. There are no refunds. Certification, if approved, is for a period of one year (except as noted above). Annual renewals (currently $99) are required and subject to possible additional conditions and criteria. If you fail to pass certification, you may reapply by submitting a new DVD, new references and a resubmission fee (not to exceed $99). Even those who fail certification will receive a detailed critique and have all benefits of membership (member discounts, etc.) except certification.
