I've been looking for some new on-camera lights for a while and done a lot of research, including reading reviews, customer feedback and the obligatory YouTube comparisons.   I've ended up with a couple of Comer 1800 lights and could not be happier.

The only down side for me is that they take Sony batteries whereas I'm shooting Panasonic cameras, but in the end it should not make much difference.  With NP-F970 batteries the lights last > 3 hours on full, and they can take a reasonable size room from being too dark to shoot at 18db to shooting at 0db.   While they are not going to light up a giant hall they are perfect for first dance and diary room.

The lights can also take a 7.2v DC input if you want to use belt mounted battery packs.

A dimmer is included as part of the on/off switch.

They include 2 barn doors (each side), a gel for changing color temp and a spot light filter to concentrating the light in a 'spot light' Wink

They are not the cheapest by any means, US price being around $399 + batteries, UK being £250 + VAT + batteries.   However, comparing them to the models around that price or cheaper they seem to be pretty good.

From what I see here -

They don't seem to put out a lot of light.  I still like my Sony 20/40w switchables.  Small footprint, plenty of light and it's useable out to at least fifteen feet, maybe twenty, without blowing out subjects at five feet.

Let's see what you think after shooting a wedding or two with them.

I shot a wedding just last saturday with them and they made a "no hope" dance floor look very good indeed.  I'll try to find some comparison stills once I've completed some editing I have to get done.
