Probably every one of you have websites (you should!) and some of you may recall that I've been pushing "Joomla" - a free, open-source content management system that simplifies the task of building and maintaining websites so you don't have to be (or hire) a web professional or spend weeks with your nose in books to build one.

Well, Jean and I are selling our home so we can move out to the north west and enjoy sailing on the open water (Seattle/Port Townsend area), and I thought I'd build a custom website to help sell the home.

It's not finished yet, but I probably spent about five hours throughout the day on it (mostly working on content) and it's about 90% finished (using Joomla) -
Secluded Lakefront Property

Yeah, I needed another link to help SEO on the site, but I thought some of you might like to see that you can actually put up a pretty slick website in no time and no cost, using Joomla.

OK, I'll put up a website for you in return and we'll use this aerial photo shoot as the online sample of your work.

Hey, we're out on the coast.  Just left an Ian Tyson concert (yes, the legend - Ian Tyson of "Ian & Sylvia" fame from the sixties - the guy who wrote "Four Strong Winds".

Concert was in Berkley.  Tomorrow we start driving north up the Pacific Coast Highway (until we get our fill of scenery and my "Type A" personality takes over and says it's time to get on the Interstate so we can be in Port Townsend (where we're buying property) in time.

Hey Hank, nice job on the web site. One suggestion though: you might get more search engine traffic if you picked a URL and home page title mentioning Lake Eufaula, or whatever other term people looking for a home in that area would use.

So, what, you're trading 10 acres in Oklahoma for a two-bedroom apartment in Seattle?   ;-)

I will add a page or two for localized results, but frankly, we're casting a wider net.  Most locals couldn't afford our property and Lake Eufaula isn't promoted well enough to be widely known.

That's probably all we could get (apartment) if buying in Seattle, but we're getting nearly four acres near Port Townsend in a community with amenities like workout room, community center and, best of all, private marina.

Remind me to do a separate post about the traffic situation in Oakland/Berkley!

Ha, welcome to big-city driving! Or in Berkeley's case, the small city that wants you to park your car and walk...  :-)
