I see that WEVA is trotting out old, worn and tired "award winners" like Jenny Lehman for their August 23 workshops.  If you haven't had the "pleasure" of paying $100 for a set of Jenny's best wedding video demos, then you really don't know what you're missing.  Other than one or two admittedly slick camera moves, the demo videos I saw blatantly showcased her lack of grasp of photographic and videographic basics.

Ms. Lehman would do well to go back to school herself and study the basics instead of offering this "Ceremony Bootcamp 101".  Or do a workshop on her good camera moves, but please - not "Bootcamp 101" !

Get someone like Dave Williams to do the workshop - his wedding videos are all-around, rock-solid.

So, while we appreciate the efforts of WEVA and Ms. Lehman to offer lessons in basics of videoing wedding ceremonies, we would suggest that more thought be given to choosing instructors suited to the particular lesson.

Ohhhhhh, Snap!

Damn Hank, my first time back posting in quite a while and you're your usual reserved self!  Good to see you haven't lost your edge, but now you've got me curious to look at her stuff.

Is this an ad?   Cheesy

Cheers mate!

Welcome back, Todd!  How's things?  We were in your fine state last month to see Ian Tyson (Ian & Sylvia).

There is nothing more important to the industry than training newcomers in the basics of wedding videography, so why do they give the job to someone who hasn't got a clue, but just wants to take the money?

It's not that there aren't qualified people in WEVA, there are.  But Lehman is NOT one of them, not unless she's gotten some serious training since I viewed her work a few years back.

If I remember correctly, Jenny has the distinction of being one of the highest-paid wedding videographers in the country, so she must be doing something customers like. But I think she also said some things on the WEVA forums which struck me as elitist, so Hank may be right there are better potential teachers in the industry. As far as WEVA is concerned, they book people who are willing to be workshop leaders and that may or may not mean they have any particular knack for teaching.
