Is 4K the next big thing in HDTVs and not 3D?

It was a couple of decades before color began to challenge b&w tv, then several decades more before hd challenged color.  But now we're seeing an onrush of new standards, first 3d and now 4k.

4K will come - bu I hope not for a while.  I'm not ready to upgrade again just yet.  Think how much more critical focus is going to be then

I'm not much concerned with either for now, but it does seem like consumers are more intrigued by 3D than increased resolution. And don't forget that *portable* video may be bigger than anything else going forward.   :-)

3D Video Games....WOO HOO!  Jump through the trees of Pandora, see the blood coming at you in God of War.

Videogames have overtaken the film industry anyway.....now we can sell them a 3D video game of their wedding.  What happens if you leave him standing at the alter??   

Just having a little fun with this.  Most people don't even have HDTV yet.  I sure love my NFL in HD through!
