As I've noted in other posts, the Sony EX1 is the answer to the low-light issue for wedding videographers not satisfied with previous HD cameras. It's not cheap, but if you're serious about doing things right this is a camera worth considering - and it has better depth of field control than any SD or HD camera with smaller sensors. It's the introduction of this camera which prompts me to declare the beginning of the end for SD wedding videos, as it minimizes the last technical barrier keeping some from upgrading to HD.

As far as the market is concerned, that's a business concern which is separate from whether HD is the new quality standard for the 21st century. If you want to stick with SD for business reasons that's fine, but this doesn't change the fact that it's an outdated format. And while good SD video can look okay on an HDTV, 4:3 delivery is definitely passe and there's no substitute for proper HD quality. Approximately 2 million US households already have HD-capable movie players and many more have computers capable of playing HD content.

If you were shooting your sister's wedding and wanter her to enjoy her video at maximum quality on her 10th anniversary, what cameras would you use to record the event?
