First H.264 with corporate shoot.

Hey Guys,
Here's another piece I finished this week. This has been a huge project that didn't start out huge. I proposed them a day of shooting, and $150/hr for any additional days of shooting. Well, they interpreted a "day" as 8 hrs of shooting and proceeded to spread that out over 2 months. The good news is that after I had done my 8 hrs, the clock was ticking. So, I have an additional $450 over the proposal. Anyway, because of budget cuts, etc. They wanted me to use the librarian's footage from the ropes course and graduation, but I covered everything else. This is my first real project with interviews, voice over, and b-roll. So, be kind. The voice over guy is a friend who is looking to get into the business, so he can use this as his "demo" kindof ... anyway, this is also my first H.264 encode and it was hard to get it going. Now I have a template, so I do it again pretty easily...anyway, we are still working through content with them, so comments are encouraged. Keep in mind that the VO guy was free, and they really like it (kindof a fuddy duddy kindof place) Thanks for watching.

Bill - very nice job!  This should have cost them ten grand.

My biggest critique doesn't concern video but marketing.  There were several marketing mistakes and no "call to action" at the end.  Videos like this should be done with a marketing consultant involved at every step of the way.

As for the video, it was 99% pure-pro.  There were a couple scenes that were obviously auto-exposure; not framed well and timing seemed off on two or three - but this was likely the b-roll stuff they gave you because the rest was all "pro"!

I definitely agree, that was really top notch professional looking stuff.  Very informative, very complete feeling, and gave a really full picture of what they offer.  The diversity of shots and activities give it a really full and well put together feel.

If you listen again, he says something about "don't settle for less than the absolute best for your life" "call or logon using the information on your screen" that's about all I can think of for a call to action. Is that what you mean? The footage they gave me was pretty tough. Shot with a JVC hard drive camera on a little aluminum tripod, and she couldn't decide what to shoot. Thanks for the comments, I am really proud of this one...

call to action. Is that what you mean?

A "call to action" should be very motivational and have a reason to "act now".  After telling the story, this is your best chance to get viewers to act.  If the "call to action" isn't great, you've lost your best shot at achieving the video's goal.

Not your fault.  You're the video guy, not the script writer.  In my opinion, they failed in their call to action.
