Ok, so I will withhold judgment until you guys have a chance to comment. My friend Jamie & I did this yesterday. He owns the FX1, FX1000, and 5D. I thought this test was very telling. The 5D is a whole other being.

Interesting.  I got the feeling I wasn't always seeing what you were describing.  It would be cool to see this repeated with subjects that have more color/contrast range and with all cameras properly white-balanced.

Nov/Dec have been as busy for us as Jun/Jul.  Will try to get some comparison footage up with VX2100/FX1/A1 soon.  Thanks for posting this.

I can see some evidence of the noise but it is really hard to tell. On the surface I was just impressed with the 1000's low light performance. It did seem like there was a white balance issue and I would like to see this with that corrected. While the 1000's low light is good, still I am concerned about the CMOS chips. The 5D just looks bad.Good test Bill. I love seeing these things.

Iron man looks impressive as usual too. I think he could take the other dude.

Bill Grant,

This is pretty much a revival of a dead thread but I have a question about the clip. The 5D2 footage to me looks strange in this clip. Other footage I have seen from the 5D2 looks awesome. Is this due to some setting that you figured out later or is it just me. I know there has been a firmware update or two that allows manual exposure control among other things.

Also what do you know about the Magic Lantern firmware, are you using it?

Wow,
I was sort of shocked to see this revived. Yeah, we had all settings at factory defaults in that clip. You have to pull saturation and contrast ALL the way down to get any kind of decent shot. We were so young and innocent back then. The 2 firmwares have added manual control and 24p. So no quality enhancements or anything. I didn't buy the camera until it got manual. Oh and outo white balance on all cams, that's why you see a white balance issue.

What about the Magic Lantern firmware. What do you know about it and do you use it?
