When I open a project CS4 only appears to have choices for DV and P2 Panasonic formats.

What import, project and export settings should I use?  Whether or not we export to blue ray or not I might as well start editing and saving to HDV.

Thanks!

Todd

Not sure what you're asking as far as project settings (only DV or HDV are shown on my CS4), or import (I believe all installations of CS4 show the same default media list for imports).

As for export, I've only tried the best MPEG2-DVD and MPEG2 Blu-ray defaults for discs, sometimes beefing up the quality when disc space allows.  While MPEG2-DVD has been great, I'm not so sure about the Blu-ray quality.

Sorry, it was late.  I guess I mean capture settings.

When I open a project it gives me the following project options:

DV 24P folder inside which is Standard 32khz, etc.
DV NTSC widescreen, 48khz,
DV PAL....
DVCPRO50
DVCPROHD
MOBILE & DEVICES

There is no HDV presets but there are for DVCPRO50 AND DVCPROHD

***I believe I have been capturing in DV 480x720 and I don't see any capture option for HDV under settings in the capture window.  I thought I saw this in CS3.  In the capture settings window it says DV  When I click on the Edit button below the capture settings window it only shows DV in the box and it is check marked.  No HDV choice in capturure.  Maybe device is set to DV?

Device control says DV/HDV.

What capture settings?  I will look again for an HDV setting in capture.

This issue occurred because I had not yet entered the SN and backup product SN info in my NLE.

CS4 limits what you can import until you prove that you have purchased the product because they are money grubbing scum.  Wink

I've been in another town, working on our rent houses and looking to buy another, so had put off replying to this until I could get home and check it out on my PP.  Good thing you figured it out first!

I haven't done much "right" regarding realestate - at least not in the repairs department.  I get first-class treatment at Home Depot and Lowes where the staff all know me by name.  The Ace Hardware guys probably snicker behind my back, but I am slowly learning.

If you know the story behind how the black belt became a symbol in martial arts, then you'll know what I mean when I say that the tape measure clipped on my belt is still shiny and new.

What's bizarre about your report is that the DVCProHD codecs were showing but not HDV - that's the reverse of what most software has offered recently.
