So, I have hired a guy to edit my overblown cinematic time suckers... He is a local media arts grad from USC. Out of work, so I'm getting him to help. Here's a highlight he did for me. Whatya think... ? Bride loved it. btw, no lights were used in the making of this video. Shot with the A1 in 60i. Truecolor for the ceremony and PFvision for the reception. Also, the Iriver apparently never got turned on for the minister, and the H2 was in front of the wrong speaker, so I always have 3 audio sources on them at least because I have had 2 fail several times. Case in point. http://www.vimeo.com/4719493Bill

Looking good. I had a few minor issues with it, but they were only personal preferences. OK, I felt the shot of the tree was totally out of place and had no relevance. But I find a lot more to critique in my own videos! Bottom line - nice work, as usual!
I still don't believe you're using an A1 - that or it's swallowed an EX1 !

I think the tree was just pretty. Sometimes pretty is good. Thanks Hank. You'll get there... It's not an easy camera to use...

Oh the tree.... Yeah, if it were a moving shot it'd be alright...kinda "leaves you hangin" (what a pun) for a few seconds though cause it's a still...plus it's just a shot of the top of the tree and nothing else...lol. Sounds like your new editor needs a nickname or some ball bustin over this tree inclusion. That's how things run at my shop anyway...haha. He'd never live it down.

But overall, it was a pretty good job and editing is such a subjective thing, hard to satisfy everyone when your critics are all wedding videographers. What a load off though, to have someone else handle editing. Now, wouldn't it be nice to have a ceremony shooting team and another pair of shooters (or at least one) that just start at the reception! Yeah, a three-team effort. That'd at least take care of the "race" between church and reception venue.

I liked the tree The one thing that I wasn't a huge fan of were the transitions used at about 1:01-1:05 for the wedding party's entrance. They looked too much like jump cuts for my taste. I might have used a dissolve there, but that's just me. Aside from that, I didn't like the song, but again, just me, and overall, I thought it was a great video!

Put me down for not liking the song also. I too felt the transitions on the symbolic shots (ring, etc.) were way too fast and unromantic, but then just how do you get romantic with that song?

all good things. Hank, we weren't going for as much of a romantic thing on this one. Much more fun and upbeat, etc. The good news is that this one is in the bag. Done. Thanks for the props fellas...

Honestly, the tree shot was mine, I laid that out in the intro before he even got the footage. And the bride specifically made a comment about how she loved that shot, so... you know. Bill

Like I said, I like the tree.
And if the bride likes it, then I love the tree.
Bottom line - do what makes the bride happy.
We did a wedding in the fall in upper Wisconsin last year. The bride specifically asked if I got some shots of all the pretty leaves on the trees. So, I went out and made sure I got 'em.
The bride is the boss.
